I really hope this "encryption bad" narrative cools down. Private communication isn't nefarious, especially when non-encrypted normally means "open to US tech companies and their advertisers". Would love to see some non-tech-giant owned messaging services, but anything new seems unlikely in this kind of hostile climate.
