So basically the U.S. wants to launch this portal (freedom.gov) that would let people access content that's legal in the U.S. but blocked in places like Europe. It would work kind of like a built-in proxy or VPN, routing requests through U.S. infrastructure so restricted material can still be fetched and viewed. The idea is framed as defending free speech, and they’re saying it wouldn't track users.
But honestly, this feels like it could turn into a geopolitical mess pretty fast, and it might also make it way easier for genuinely harmful content to spread across borders.
