I think the conclusion with a lot of this movement is that it's challenging to do *everything* on European infra -- some parts (e.g. basic VPS/app server hosting) are pretty straightforward, while others (SES-type transactional email, with all the supporting infra around that; coding agent LLMs) are much more difficult. AI definitely changes the game a bit - it's become much easier to roll your own solutions now, so if you wanted to build something SES-like, it wouldn't be *as hard* as 3-4 years ago. But there are definitely areas where there's almost zero (cloud hosted) competition, like viable European coding agents. (Where's Mistral here? Their last coding agent PR seems from a year or more ago?) But yeah, open source solutions abound, even for coding agents. So if you think "it's not possible" then, most likely, "you're not trying hard enough", but at some point the cost vs benefit of being able to say you're 100% European could become quite unattractive.
