Translation:
The Chief Executive Officer of OVHcloud OVH.PA said on Thursday, during the cloud computing group's financial results announcement, that he was seeking a cross-border solution as part of the European Union's initiative to develop artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure.
The service provider also confirmed its targets for 2026 and reported organic revenue growth of 6% in the first quarter.
Speaking to analysts, CEO Octave Klaba said the group was discussing ‘gigafactory’ projects with the European Commission, while expressing concerns about the bloc's ‘country-by-country’ approach to AI initiatives.
OVHCloud has begun discussions with potential partners in six or seven European countries to set up an interconnected cross-border infrastructure, he said, while criticising the lack of attention paid to customers.
‘At the moment, it's just an initiative to create assets, but no one is talking about how they will be used,’ said Octave Klaba. ‘European AI initiatives focus too much on capex and assets, not enough on revenue. Who will pay?’
LACK OF AWARENESS
Revenue rose to €275.3 million in the first quarter. Public cloud services, which account for 21% of the total, grew by 15.8% to €58.2 million. Private cloud services climbed 4% to €167.2 million.
Despite the confirmation of the 2026 targets, the goal of €2 billion in annual revenue is being challenged by a slowdown in new customer acquisition and a lack of brand awareness.
‘We are not good at acquiring new customers today,’ Octave Klaba acknowledged on Thursday, adding that OVHcloud's goal was for every European citizen to recognise the brand by 2030.

It's always the same with the EU: either coordination efforts make it slow or some countries don't want to play ball. And then it excels at regulations because it's mostly an administration.
